Fire.
It’s no question that fire is a huge, huge part of the western lifestyle. Fire rages with somewhat desensitized normalcy now — and is quickly becoming an essential aspect to consider when building. So much so that Class A and WUI certifications in your building materials are a must-do, and rightly so since we’re losing homes, entire communities, and lives due to out-of-control wildfires.
Two of our vendors are answering the call — Hewn and Kebony. Both offer exterior wood products and both offer some fire-rating solutions for those who need them.
Hewn can now off Class A exterior pressure-treated fire-retardant lumber while maintaining the visual look and feel of its traditional exterior cedar siding while implementing an industry-leading fire treatment process that modifies the wood to its core.
Class A ratings resist the spread of fire, helping to protect your project and meet fire codes present. Protecting your property
Kebony just released its certification for W.U.I., which stands for Wildland Urban Interface and certifies its decking products for this. Otherwise known as Class B flame spread — not as high as Class A, as mentioned above, but GOOD! Different jurisdictions and municipalities require different standards to meet their current code.
